Spider-Man 2099 is a fictional superhero that appears in Marvel Comics' American comic novels. The character was developed in 1992 for the Marvel 2099 comic book line by Peter David and Rick Leonardi, and is a future re-imagining of his namesake created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Miguel O'Hara, a talented Irish-Mexican scientist residing in Nueva York (a renamed New York City) in the year 2099, tries to re-create the skills of the original Spider-Man in other people and later has an accident that causes half of his DNA to be replaced with a spider's genetic code.
